For this range of bespoke shirts, we use INDUO® fabrics.
INDUO® have developed fabrics that are both sweat and stain resistance.
Shirts made from these fabrics prevent liquid stains penetrating the fabric so fluids such as wine and coffee really do just run off. If anything is left you simply just wipe with a cloth to remove anything that is left. It really is amazing.
Washing machines create enough pressure to allow water and detergent to pass through the fabric so you can clean your shirts, and if you use a good spray of water when ironing they are incredibly easy to keep sharp too.
To explain how water-repellency works, it is first necessary to explain what a liquid is.
Besides their seemingly great diversity, all liquid are made up of either water or oil. Water and oil are known as solvents. Besides water or oil, the “rest” of the components in a liquid are called solutes.
A liquid is a solvent in which a solute has been dissolved or diluted.
This is why, to repel a liquid, we just need to be able to repel its solvent.
To make INDUO® fabric repel water and oil, its cotton fibres were made to be hydrophobic and lipophobic.
