A look at Seersucker

With the recent heatwave we are going to be doing some short guides to help you with your summer wardrobe.

This post will be looking at Seersucker.

Seersucker is a 100% cotton fabric, characterised by its very distinctive texture. Seersucker has alternating rough and smooth stripes.

Seersucker

The work seersucker actually comes from the Hindi words, sheer & shaker meaning milk & sugar as is most likely referring to the rough and smooth stripes.

Due to the way that the fabric is woven, some of the threads bunch together giving it its distinctive appearance.

Because of this, a large portion of the fabric is held away from the body, allowing heat to dissipate and air circulate, making it the perfect summer fabric.

Usually seen as a light blue and white stripe, seersucker comes in a range of colours and the plain blues that we now carry are proving extremely popular.

Seersucker is definitely a fabric that is often overlooked for summer clothing, but I strongly suggest that you have a little look.

Do please feel free to pop in to have a look and we can show you the fabric in the flesh!
