Summer offers a new range of gorgeous fabrics and colours from which to have your bespoke shirt made.
Here at Barrington Ayre we can offer everything you need for your perfect summer shirt, and so we thought that we would have a little look at some of the fabrics that are available to you.
1. LINEN - CLICK HERE TO SEE SOME LINENS
Linen is a go to summer shirt fabric. Linen is a natural fabric made from the flax plant. Its unique weave and fibres mean that linen allows more airflow than other fabrics. What’s more, its stiff structure makes it less likely to cling to your skin – ensuring you remain cool.
2. CHAMBRAY - CLICK HERE
Our new Chambray panama fabric is 100% cotton and has the appearance of an Oxford but is lighter in weight.
It is woven using a coloured warp yarn and white weft, arranged in a basket weave construction with bulkier 21’s x 21’s yarns. It has a casual, almost ‘linen’ look but has a much smoother, more fluid drape. Although it is lightweight, it is durable and an essential for any casual summer wardrobe.
3. LENO - CLICK HERE TO SEE SOME LENO FABRICS
Leno is characterised by its “knit like” open weave appearance and is unusual as it has two warp yarns instead of just one. The resultant fabric is lightweight, yet has texture and substance. It is similar in look to Aertex and is also commonly referred to as Giro Inglese or “English Turn” or “English weave”
4. MILAN COTTON AND TENCAL - CLICK HERE
The Milan quality is another of our sustainable fabrics. Milan is constructed using 60% cotton and 40% tencel. Tencel is a cellulose fibre which is made by dissolving wood pulp. The processes involved in producing suitable tencel yarns are lower impact environmentally, ethically and therefore more sustainable.
Tencel fibres have better absorption, breathability and anti bacterial properties than cotton – all of which improve the day to day comfort of the garment and yielding a lighter, airier fabric with excellent fluid drape and a silky handle.
5. PLAIN EGYPTIAN COTTON POPLIN - CLICK HERE
The Monarch quality is a medium weight poplin which uses strong and durable 2 ply yarns. It has a crisp, yet soft, fluid handle. Like the majoriy of Acorn’s fabrics Monarch uses Egyptian cotton because it has a long stable (fibre length) so it can be spun into fine yarns.
