Claudia Winkleman’s Celebrity Traitors Suit | Handmade in the Cotswolds.
In short: The brown herringbone tweed suit Claudia Winkleman wears on the new series of The Celebrity Traitors was made by Barrington Ayre, a bespoke tailor in Market Place, Cirencester. It was cut and handmade in our Cirencester workroom from William Bliss Cotswold Country Tweed, a heritage British cloth with its roots in the Cotswolds.
Few presenters have done more for tweed than Claudia Winkleman. Since the first series of The Traitors, her wardrobe of capes, knits, tartan and tweed has become almost as talked about as the betrayals around the round table. So when the call came to make a suit for the new series of The Celebrity Traitors, we knew exactly what it needed to be: unmistakably British, built from honest cloth, and made by hand.

The suit
The suit is cut from a rich brown herringbone tweed. Herringbone is one of the oldest and most recognisable tweed weaves, its broken zig-zag giving depth and texture that reads beautifully on camera and in the misty light of the Highlands.
The jacket and trousers were made to Claudia's measurements in our workroom. Every stage, from pattern cutting to the final press, was carried out by hand by our team in Cirencester. The result is a suit with the structure to hold its shape through long days of filming, and the softness of a garment that has been made, not manufactured.
The cloth: William Bliss Cotswold Country Tweed
We chose William Bliss Cotswold Country Tweed because it carries the story of this region in every thread. The William Bliss name has been part of Cotswold cloth-making for generations, and the cloth is woven in the UK using the archive patterns of the Chipping Norton Tweed Mill.
It is a cloth designed for real country life: dense enough to keep out the weather, yet with a handle that tailors well and drapes cleanly. For a programme filmed in the Scottish Highlands, that combination mattered.

Made in our Cirencester workroom
Barrington Ayre has been making clothes since 2008. Our showroom and workroom sit in Market Place, Cirencester, a town that grew rich on the medieval wool trade. Making a suit here, from Cotswold cloth, felt like a small continuation of that story.
Our garments made in our workroom are cut and finished by hand. We believe that the best British tailoring does not have to come from London. It can come from a workroom on a Cotswold market square.
A Cotswold story, told on national television
Claudia Winkleman calls the Cotswolds home, which makes this commission especially meaningful to us. A Cotswold resident, wearing Cotswold cloth, tailored by a Cotswold business, on one of the most watched programmes on British television.
It is a quiet but proud reflection of what this region still does so well. The Cotswolds is not only a place of honey coloured villages; it is home to weavers, makers and small businesses producing work of genuine quality. We are proud to be one of them, and prouder still to see British cloth and British tailoring given this kind of stage.
