The Chore Jacket was originally designed as a utilitarian garment, first worn by railway labourers and engineers in France in the late 1800s. The French name – bleu de travail – literally translates to 'blue work', underpinning its function as practical outerwear.
Traditionally made from hardy cotton drill or moleskin, this jacket could withstand the tough demands of physical jobs, and any holes were simply patched up with other pieces of cotton.

Loose fitting in style, the Chore jacket could be worn as a protective layer over other clothes, with buttons up the front and looser sleeves to allow rolling up, as well as large patch pockets.

Our design sticks to the classic style with three patch pockets, with the two waist front pockets being larger than usual and a four button fastening.

We have also added two large internal pockets.

Unlined and unstructured, and made right here in our Cirencester Showroom, each jacket is made personally and individually for each customer.

Available in heavy brushed cotton twill, but we can make this style in any fabric you wish, so please don't hesitate to contact us if you have a question or have a fabric in mind.

Whilst your jacket is being made we will also send you pictures of the process so you can see quite what goes into hand making your garment. If you fancy, you are also more than welcome to come to Cirencester to see your jacket being made in the flesh.

Each jacket is made individually so please allow around 4 weeks for delivery
