The Submariner Sweater

This is something that I had been searching for for years. I had an old submariner jumper many many moons ago which went missing and I had been searching ever since for one to replace it with.

After years of fruitless searching I was introduced to a knitwear manufacturer and he agreed to make one for me. This is the outcome and I am super excited about it.

Inspired by the handmade wool jumpers worn by seamen 100 years ago, this 100% merino wool jumper will allow you to keep warm and comfortable as well as being 'non itchy' due to the chunky merino wool. With its distinctive roll neck design, the Submariner is a timeless wardrobe essential. Perfectly at home with chinos and brown brogues as well as over some bespoke jeans and trainers. It will also sit beautifully under a bespoke jackets and heavyweight coat.

This style fits true to size with a loose fit through the shoulders, arm, and body.

In 2022 we slightly tweaked the design to make it a tiny bit more fitted and have made the ribbing at the waist smaller, down from 6" to 3"  

SIZING

Our sizing is a classic fit, so if you usually take a large then order large. If you want a slightly more over sized look then order a size larger than you would usually take.

Our measurements below are taken with the jumper lying flat. The chest is taken directly across the chest. The length is from the bottom of the collar to the seam. The shoulder measurement is taken from the seam to seam and the sleeve is taken from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff with the cuff rolled up.

 Fabric Care

Ideally hand wash with gentle detergent, wool or baby shampoo
Lay flat to dry on a towel. Apply a gentle iron with a slow steam
Do not tumble dry

Why is our chunky merino wool hand wash only

High street machine washable merino wool is treated with a heat resistant plastic which cracks as you wash and tumble dry. Not only is the handle harder, but aggressive washing damages the merino (and the environment), which in turn means your jumper will pill more, lose its shape and begin to look worn very quickly. This significantly reduces the lifespan of the garment.

All true luxury jumpers are made using hand washable pure yarns. Our merino is luxuriously soft. The providence of our yarn makes our merino one of the best in world.
