Barrington Ayre is a bespoke tailor and shirtmaker fifteen minutes from Northleach, down the Fosse Way in Cirencester. Visit our Market Place showroom, or our tailor will come to your home anywhere in Northleach and the North Cotswold villages.
Since 2008 we've made suits, shirts, tweed and country clothing, wedding suits and ladies' tailoring, cut to your measurements from thousands of British and European cloths. You get Savile Row-trained tailoring without a trip to London, and without anyone making you feel you're on Savile Row.

Around fifteen minutes from Northleach on the A429. First floor, above Cotswolds Contemporary Art Gallery, opposite Caffè Nero. Walk in through the gallery and up the stairs at the back, where you'll find the full cloth collection, a drink from the bar and Monty, our showroom dog.
We come to you
Our tailor visits homes across the North Cotswolds, including Northleach, Chedworth, Sherborne, Farmington, Turkdean, Withington, Andoversford, Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold and Burford. We bring the cloth books, take your measurements and return for your fitting.
Clothes from a wool town, for a wool town
Northleach and Cirencester were both built on the medieval wool trade, and Northleach's great wool church still carries the brasses of the merchants who made it rich. We're still making clothes from the cloth of this landscape, fifteen minutes apart.
We're agents for William Bliss Cotswold Country Tweed, woven at the Chipping Norton Tweed Mill, and make jackets and gilets in our own Cirencester workroom, including a wool gilet made entirely within 12 miles of Cirencester. Our Fosse collection takes its name from the old Roman road that links the two towns.

Bespoke shirts
Where we started. Shirts cut to your measurements, with your choice of collar, cuff and cloth.
How it works
- Your first appointment. In our showroom or at your home. We talk through what you want, choose the cloth, settle the design and take your measurements. A deposit starts production.
- Your pattern is cut. Our cutters in Yorkshire make a pattern from your measurements that's yours alone.
- Your fitting, around four weeks in. You try the garment at baste stage so we can perfect the fit.
- Collection, around eight weeks from your first appointment. Final adjustments are made by our own tailor in Cirencester before you take your clothes home.
